Comprehensive Home Performance Audit

KenJiva’s Energy Performance Professionals (EPP’s) are trained to pinpoint the areas of your home where energy is being wasted and used inefficiently.  Every EPP has been trained and certified by either Building Performance Institute (BPI) or RESNET standards organizations.  BPI and RESNET are national standards development organizations for residential energy efficiency and weatherization retrofit work, and their audit procedures are recognized and required for verification of building energy performance for federal tax incentives, the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America Program.

The Comprehensive Home Performance Audit process begins with a KenJiva Energy Performance Professional (EPP) engaging you in a phone or email based interview, then reviewing your billing data to ascertain patterns in your energy ( and water if available) consumption.  By asking questions and listening to you, the building owner, a KenJiva EPP can uncover major problem areas during the initial contact, then onsite, we use industry standard diagnostic equipment to verify energy and water use.

At the follow up site visit, your KenJiva EPP will provide a visual inspection of your home’s appliances and heating and cooling equipment, as well as a measured assessment of your opportunity for weatherization, conservation and efficiency. Each Comprehensive Home Performance Audit by KenJiva staff will include a Blower Door test, Combustion Appliance Safety and Efficiency testing, a Thermal Imaging Scan, a Water usage audit and a written report of our findings, including cost estimates for the work suggested.  The report and our interaction with you throughout the process will focus first on low-cost/no-cost energy conservation measures (ECM’s), and then move to a prioritized list of higher cost ECM’s that we recommend you invest in given your budgetary and environmental goals.  It will be professional, complete, relevant and thorough.
